Maybe they were not. Besides, it's a history, among other things, and history can be as much a lesson of what not to do. While there is genuine "give" or quibble room over concepts of inspiration and inerrancy and interpretation, for a divine book "a little bit flawed" is equivalent to "a little bit pregnant": there is no "little bit". The various partial inspirations, inspiration on spiritual matters alone, the scripture "becoming the word of god" to the Spirit-filled reader... All the alternate doctrines... all have proven problematic, to put it mildly. This appears to be the line you are taking. But if Paul was only partially inspired, the reader must be inspired at least to the level of Paul to see which passages are or are not.
